Shravan Pani Puri A Healthy Monsoon Twist to Your Favorite Snack
Shravan brings rain, greenery, fasting days, and a sudden craving for something chatpata. Pani puri often feels tempting in this season, but regular street-style pani can be too spicy, too sour, or unsafe if hygiene is poor.
A better way is to make a fresh, sattvik-style version at home. Let us call it Shravan Pani Puri, a monsoon-friendly twist inspired by simple Ayurvedic kitchen wisdom.
Why Shravan Pani Puri works well
This version keeps the joy of pani puri but changes the pani. Instead of heavy masalas and very sharp flavours, it uses fresh herbs, lemon, ginger, and rock salt.
Coriander and mint give freshness. Tulsi adds a pleasant herbal note. Ginger gives warmth, which feels useful during the damp monsoon. Lemon brings brightness without making the pani too harsh.
This is not a medical treatment, but a thoughtful seasonal recipe for enjoying flavour in a cleaner, lighter way.
Ingredients for the pani
For around 10 puris, use:
Fresh coriander leaves - About 50% of the herb mix
Fresh mint leaves - About one-fourth of the coriander quantity
Tulsi leaves - A few leaves
Betel leaf - 1 medium-sized leaf
Ginger - As per taste
Lemon juice - As per taste
Rock salt or sendha namak - As per taste
Clean drinking water - As needed
How to make it
Wash all leaves well. Add coriander, mint, tulsi, betel leaf, ginger, lemon juice, and rock salt to a mixer jar.
Grind everything into a smooth paste. Add clean drinking water as required and mix well. Taste and adjust lemon or salt.
Use this pani with fresh puris. If you observe fasting rules, choose puris and fillings that match your family’s vrat tradition.
FAQ
Can I have this during Shravan fasting?
Yes, if the ingredients match your fasting practice. Many people use sendha namak during vrat, but rules differ by region and family.
Is betel leaf necessary?
It adds a distinct taste. If you do not prefer it, you can skip it.
Can children have this pani?
Yes, but keep ginger, lemon, and salt mild.
How long can I store it?
Fresh is best. If needed, refrigerate and use it the same day.
A small monsoon takeaway
Shravan does not mean giving up taste. With clean ingredients and a lighter pani, your favourite snack can feel fresh, festive, and more suitable for the season.
